Use Sony TV remote to control Sky Q 2TB box

HI everyone. I have just recently bought a new Sony TV KD55XG8796BU and am having trouble getting the remote to control my Sky Q 2TB box. I have done the initial set up where it asks me to provide the manufacturer of the cable box and have tried both Sky UK and BSkyB. It is really frustrating as I'm coming from a Samsung smart TV and the universal remote for that worked perfectly and I don't fancy having to use 2 remotes. I have also tried to manually enter the model and make of the Sky Q box but it did not find any matches. Does anybody have any suggestions or fixes please.

Hi @RankFTW

Unfortunately the Sony database only includes the Sky+HD remote codes so you will never get it to work with Sky Q.

The solution used by millions is to use the one remote, the Sky Q remote paired to the TV.

Perhaps if everybody complained to Sony they may eventually include Sky Q in their database. Sony UK Support

Sorry, only Sony Support can provide you with an update. However, would you please let us all know how you get on as this will be of interest to many Sky Q users, including myself. Just in case you are not aware, this is a user community (not Sony).

Heads up the latest TV update has added support for Sky Q so you can now control the Sky box with the Sony TV remote.

How do I do it. I used to be able to turn the channels over on my Sky Q box with my Sony Bravia tv remote but this morning it stopped. Can’t find how I did it initially

Hi @c.cox8

Try going to Settings - External inputs - Bravia Sync settings - Bravia Sync device list, to see if the Sky Q is still recognized by the TV as a controllable device. If it isn't, try to disable Bravia Sync on the TV and HDMI CEC on the box, put them through a power cycle, then put everything back on again.

My Sky Q and XR-50X90J worked fine last week (before I left sky). The set up process was through the TV menu and was painless.

Anyone able to get this to work? It shows Sky Q as a Bravia Sync device under the enabled list. But doesn't seem to work when on the Sky platform. The TV is an A80J

Is there another (older) way to do this using 4 digit codes codes? I know you can program the Sky remote to work with TV but what about the other way around. Prefer to use the Sony remote for all. #

I’ve managed to get my Sky Q remote to control the Bravia XR volume. But I can’t get the Bravia remote to show me the Sky Q programme guide when I use the ‘programme guide’ button on the Bravia remote. Any ideas, please? I’ve used the Bravia ‘set-up set top box’ setting but it still doesn’t enable the programme guide button to work.

I know I can use the SkyQ remote, and do most of the time, but can't understand why I can't set up the TV remote to control Sky. UEI/Quickset make the Sky remote after all, and that's the data base that Sony use!

I can go to:

settings

channels and inputs

external inputs

tv box setup

set up by model number

follow the instructions and select "sky" then I get a whole list of options.

No matter which I chose, including Sky, Sky Q or Sky UK, I can't get it to accept my model number 32B12C (even just searching starting 32, which is all the models I think, I can't get it to find any).

How do I get it to work?

Hi @sylsyl Reaching into the back of my brain, have you tried SkyQ (no spaces) as the model number. All Sky Q models (32C, 32D, 32B0, 32B1 or 32B2) use the same remote and codes.
