For some reason when i recieve a text message i get no notifictaion sound at all so never onow ive got a text unless i look, can anyone help please i have an Experia L1

Did you try to adjust the notifications for the Messages application?

Try to set up the notifications from Settings > Apps and notifications > Messages app > Notifications.

This has happened to me with multiple Xperias, and sometimes a simple device restart solved the issue, other times, I had to double check the notification tone as it was set to None, how? I have no idea, as I didn't changed it, perhaps an app did, perhaps it was a bug.
