Alarm sounds every 10 minutes

I'm new to the Xperia U and this support forum. I have a problem I cannot solve. Every 10 minutes an alarm sounds and I cannot turn it off. I assumed it was the snooze alarm although I've never set or used the alarm. I went through all the settings I could think of, made sure the alarm is off, turned off the alarm volume but still it sounds.

Any advice will be most welcome.

are you certain its not a calendar reminder?

Thanks uliwooly, I was hoping that's the answer even though I hadn't knowingly set any events. I tried cancelling events (there were none) and cancelling event notifications but it still sounds exactly every 10 minutes.

Any other suggestions anyone?

settings > apps > all > clock/clocks > clear everything and check again

Well, I'm pretty sure a factory reset will work. One question: What's your current Android Version and Build Number?

Thank you. I did a settings reset with no effect. Looks like I'll have to try a factory reset as you suggest. It's v4.04 IMEI 352266053534658

Well I've found that the sound is somehow connected to the wifi. If I turn wifi off it stops.

Now I just need to find a way to turn the sound off when wifi's connected. Turning off the open zone notification doesn't help.

I'd prefer to keep wifi on if I can without having the irritating sound every 10 mins.

Any further ideas anyone?

its an app that's creating that issue, you probably get the issue when you turn on your wifi bc its trying to sync something or do something web related.

Yes, you're spot on. It's the BT wifi app that's connecting me to a local hotspot even when at home. When I connect to my home hub the sound switches off.
