Xperia S not connecting to 2G network

Hi,
I have Xperia updated with version 4.1.2
My device is not able to connect to 2G network at all.
Whenever I m in 3G network then only it connects to network but I migrate to 2G network, it is not able to register itself on 2G. I tried inserting other network SIM in it, even that is not working. I went to Sony Center, even they could not resolve the issue. Xperia support center is saying there is an issue going on & they will be releasing new update soon.

Settings > more > mobile networks > Network mode > GSM only

Its not working in that way because, there is no option to select the downgragded networ (2G). There's an option to select only 3G. Another thing, I ca select 2G network forcefully by selecting Mobile network, but it automatically goess to 3G which I dont want. Please anyone give me a solution that how I can go and fix my network into 2G.

that's for me too even i tried to downgrade my andriod to 2.3 ... 4.0 not effects please help us

Facing the same problem

tried almost everything

even sony center couldn't resolve

this problem is very irritating whenever i remain at villege level where there is still 2g towers only...

plz sony do something

this is frustating and irriting...otherwise have to replace this costly handset......

I also have the same problem. Earlier, I thought Idea has this issue. Now, am using Vodafne and facing the same issue. Really having a tough time with this phone. Probably, will have to switch over to other phoe, if the problem exists longer.

You are using a new Xperia, right? Sony may have stopped support for 2G on their phones, so try to use a phobe wich works with 2G (this may be a trip to your parents home!) Also, not ALL SIMS still do 2G, since 4G seems to be trend now

Same problem with my z5 too. It connects only with 3g. It dont connect with 4g and 2g at all. Also it doesnt connects with gprs. In naugat the problm persist. Then i downgraded to marshmallo by sony campanion s/w but it did help me at all. Thinking of swicthing fone

That's not a phone issue, it's a network issue, 2G it's not supported in a lot countries anymore, you might want to contact them regarding that. As for 4G, are you referring to 4G LTE or the faux 4G (H+)?

If the former, is your SIM card 4G compatible? Do you have the correct APN settings? is your phone compatible with your carrier's 4G LTE bands ?

if the later, do you have the correct APN settings?
