Hi, when using my navigation app on Google maps the sound can be on initially or sometimes not. If I start getting verbal directions it will usually stop at some point. If I don't get the voice at the start of my journey it may start part way through or I'll not get it at all. It is not on mute and my volume is fully on. Sometimes if I restart the fone it will give you voice directions for a bit. I have un installed and re installed the app without any success. Can someone please help.

Could you test the app in >>> safe mode just to see if a third party app it's causing this problem.

Not that it is helping you with your Google maps navigation problem, but you might want to try maps.me app.

How did Google maps perform in safe mode?

I have the same issue, after upgrading to Android 8.0.0, the voiced navigation starts, and then after each turn, it becomes silent. No more directions, no more voiced navigation. Restarted phone and wiped completely. It's a hit and miss for me. Only happens on Google Maps for me.

I tried safe mode and there was no difference. But I have noticed it works as long as my phone isn't connected to the car by Bluetooth. Is this normal?

Have you tested it with any other audio related functions whilst connected to your car? Just wondering if it might be a Bluetooth issue rather that Google Maps.

Possibly please read below.. When my phone is connected via Bluetooth the nav is silent. Looks like you're correct with your post but Is it normal ? Thanks for your reply 🙂

I it's definitely not right that it happens but I cannot test anything as my car doesn't have bluetooth.

I tried playing a video it didn't have any sound either it's definitely something to do with Bluetooth linked to the car. Again is this normal? I woykd like to think I can have my phone linked via Bluetooth and use my GPS for navigation.

Hi thanks again. I've got it working in my car now it is going through the car audio not the phone.my car now shows the Bluetooth sign as well as the phone connection sign. That'll do for me. Thanks for all the input

On my Subaru, I use the USB connection and Apple Car Play for Google maps. I also keep Bluetooth running. Is that ok or should I kiddy use the usb for all phone and navigation purposes?
