Newest update UI on Xperia 5 III looks dreadful

My friends just updated their Xperia 5 III to 61.1.A.1.149 and the UI looks dreadful.

The upper menu has way less icons, but those are too big.

Volume bar is also huge, taking needed space, especially when watching a video and want to change volume uninterrupted, it takes too much area!

The settings menu looks like coming from older Nokia phone.

Is it possible to change it? Go back?

I agree, looks like they're going for a more simplistic Samsung/Apple-looking interface, oversized buttons for the width of the screen and far too much space wasted on a lot of the menu's but in this case I'm almost certain that the "they" is Android/Google, not Sony.....

I leave my Android 12 upgrade cursing for Sony on things like the Xperia Launcher going live seemingly completely untested is another #@!$%# story!!

Couldn't agree more. The thing is it isn't possible to downgrade, I think we will get used to this new interface
