My phone is totally dead, i cant do anything power button + volume up button , force restart button near the sim , and nothing happens , also when i connect to a usb charger the red light is blinking all the time . Please HELP ME i need my xperia z2 back to live....

Hi,

For how long time have the phone been connected to the charger? If the LED is blinking red, it sounds like the battery is completely flat. Thereby it can take a longer time before the phone indicates charging and/or powers on. I suggest that you connect the phone to the charger via wall socket and let it charge for 1-2 hours.

i have charging it all night and when i woke up the phone was still blinking red and tried the same things power on ,power button+volume up , force restart button and nothing happens , but today i went to my mobile carrier and left to service ... but what happened i still don't know and i'm angry because i don't have mobile it went dead i was using it for 6 moghts ...

Wow, the exact same thing happened to me a while ago minus the red LED blinking light. Mine didnt even charge anymore(no LED indicator), basically it was dead. The phone just died at 42%, first screen froze...displayed a purple glitchy screen, wont turn on, tried all the troubleshooting methods, so i sent it in for service using the VIP card that came with the phone, conveniently enough they picked it up from my house just a while ago, and said that i should be recieving a loaner phone maybe tomorrow while my phone is being sent for repair. Despite what happened, they're offering me a pretty good service though which is awesome. Maybe you could do the same.

Same problem here. Tried to charge the phone, but it keeps blinking red. I also tried to connect it to the computer. Didn't work either. Any solutions?

Hi, same thing happened to me when my phone was ~80% charged. I've tried to connect it to wall charger for whole night I just see a blinking red LED same case when I connect it with my Mac. Please explain why I see tons of complains about same problem and no real answer from Sony.

I've tried to hard reset the phone by pressing red button as well, didn't work same case with Volume+ and Power button it just vibrates and that's it.

Guys, I have been facing exactly the same problem! Last night I pressed the power button to check the time and the cell would'nt respond. so i connected it to the charger and this red light keeps blinking. The red light glows bright red followed by dim red and then the screen flashes with the sony logo. I then tried connecting the cell to my PC via USB cable and the same result. I have then tried everythinh. The power butoon volume up and down key, the red button next to sim slot. Everything! but nothing workseven tried to update it, repair through sony PC companion. Nothing works. Please help!

All the replies i have read from the support team, none of them give a proper solution! just the standard ones.

EDIT: My charge was 82%, so charge is'nt an issue

I had the exact same problem. It happened when I started using the magnetic charger. I read online that unplugging and replugging the battery would fix it. Although I knew it would most likely void my warranty, I didn't really have a good warranty anyways. I used a heat gun to get it open and unplugged the battery. As soon as I plugged it back in it turned on. Definitely saved me about 200 dollars. It also probably is no longer waterproof but again it was worth saving the money.

Hello people, I've been using my Z1 with a OEM samsung charger but it looks like it doesn't provide enough power to charge my phone, so what happened is that I was charging it in my car as well but I didn't have time enough to stop using my phone. Somehow it went to 0% charge and phone went off. When I connected to my charger in the car it didn't want to come up so I tried reset volume up + power holding for about 10 secs, and I think that was the worst thing I could do. I ended being without phone for about 3 days and I was able to take out the battery myself by searching online for disassembly instructions. I guy told me the problem was the battery and I'm still thinking he's right but I haven't replaced it yet. With the battery out a guy at a repair store was able to Jump the power and charge the battery with a multimeter. After about 20 mins the phone went back on but I think my batter doesn't work well anymore since it shows a 50% charge at all times and sometimes shows between 1% and 11% is what I've seen so far.

In conclusion I think the battery dies and replacing it is the best option but I recommend to test your phone first by jumping the charge into the battery befor buying one to make sure you don't waiste money.

Today I had the same problem.

The battery level was 75%
I connected the magnetic charger to the phone and the phone turned off.
I found this forum and read your comments so I thought there is no good, fast solution
I connected the phone to my PC via USB cable and tried to charge the battery for some time
I noticed the led was blinking red but after some time..
the led stopped blinking and was red continuously (about half an hour).
After some time (about half an hour) the led turned off.
At this time I tried to turn the phone on and it worked again (I tried to push one of the volume buttons too. I don't know if it was needed).

I hope it helps someone.

Guys pls help my z2 suddenly died.when i connect it to the charger there are times that the red led blinks sometimes it doesnt ang sony logo flasher for like 1 sec then it flashes again sometimes it doesnt flash . Hello Guys! I had the exact same problem on Xperia Z2 it wouldn't turn on, when plugged into AC Charge just red light blinked again and again. SOLUTION > I removed the back of the phone, unpinned the battery connector and then pinned it again. After this I pressed 'Power Button' + 'Volume up and down' keys at the same time (Three keys) for about 10 secs and by miracle phone turned on with the battery of about 60%. Hope it works for you too.

Hi @Beth300, sorry to hear about your device.

Could you try removing the SIM and SD cards from your device, and then press and hold the power- and volume buttons simultaneously until the device vibrates 3 times? Once you've done so, try charging the device for at least 2 hours and then try booting it again with the cards still removed.

I have my phone in this state: Pressing the power button; red blinking 3 times. Pressing vol+ power button; nothing happens. Pressing reset button; nothing happens. Plugging into PC or charger, red lighting brightly for 3 sec, then goes out, then red light dims, PC doesn't recognise. Same thing with replaced battery. I measured the battery's voltage, it was 3.78V, after a few hours on charger, battery's voltage was 3.81V, so it charged fully, but the red still blinking 3 times when trying to power on. The screen comes on only with a low battery icon when the battery is removed, and putting on charger. Is this phone recoverable somehow, or better to throw away far?

Hi @Liotron, I am very sorry to hear about that.

Have you tried removing both SIM- and SD cards if you have them mounted, and then tried booting the device? Aside from that, I recommend that you try performing a software repair using Xperia Companion to see if it could be software related.

Could you try that and let me know how it went?

Thank you for your advice, but whatever I've done with cards, the phone can only do is three red blinks when pressing power on, with factory battery and with replace battery. Without battery the screen turns on and showing a battery low icon, red blinks. The device is not connecting to PC at all, neither simply plugging into usb, nor with pressed vol-, either pressing/connecting whatever configuration. So what's next?

To be assisted in sending it in, I recommend getting in touch with your local support team as they are well informed regarding your local service routines, warranty terms and consumer laws.
