I have purchased a new PC running Windows 7. I've loaded Reader for PC and this shows 'Disconnected on the PC but the reader the reader show 'USB connected'.

When I bring up Reader Library a message shows 'Unable to process update check due to a configuration error. Please check network firewall settings or try again at a later time.'

Are these two things interrelated and how do I get my reader talking. I've spent two frustrating days trying. At 78 I'm only fairly computer literate. The reader was bought for me soon after it was launched so I'm wondering if it's compatible.

Any help will be gratefully received.

If you Google "Reader Support for PRS505" that brings up some Firmware updates, one for PC's dated 2013 - this may help.

I don't know if there are anymore firmware updates, but this one might be promising.

You could also try Sony support.

It does sound a software glitch.

But praps one of our real tech experts will put you right ....

PS ...... if you think you've got trouble with Win 7 ................. I went for win 8 in a weak moment, and, frankly.... I do so wish I hadn't It is so counter-intuitive it's not true ... !

We have recently updated our computer and have Windows 7 now.

I have been trying to load ebook library all afternoon!!

Any answers?
