After upgrading and keeping my settings I discovered that my BD player was not 'discovered' in the device manager. After searching through a lot of Q&A in the community I found a solution.

Download and install DAPlayer from here http://www.digiarty.com/

I checked it out with Norton, whch says it is OK

Once installed I changed the boot settings in W8 to USB or CD then restarted.

PC asked to press a key if CD or USB boot was required.

I did this but only a normal PC boot was available.

However, once booted up, lo and behold, my BD player was back in play.

Amazing.

Hope it works for you.

My thanks to the person who placed this original fix. Unfortunatley I didn't make a note of their name.
