topic Partitioning and recovery for SVE1713Y1EB in PCs & Accessories

I have a brand new SVE1713Y1EB which comes with a HDD 1TB.

At disk management I saw that there is a hidden partition named as "recovery partition" which as I understand (and after I have read a post of Blencogo) it contains the software to recover the Vaio back to it's factory settings.

The thing is, that as primary partition (C:) there is a partition of aproximately 835GB which I would like to cut in half and create a secondary partition (D:) to use it for keeping there files as music, videos and large programs as games e.t.c. so to keep the primary partition (C:) as clean as possible of non nessecary files (Windows files, Office files and so on).

I know that if I do this I should create emmediately a recovery disk thats contains the new partitions of the HDD.

But what I don't know, is if the recovery method that uses the hidden "recovery partition" will still be working.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Vigor

There should not be any problem partioning your 1TB hard disc on your 17.3inch E series laptop.

Mine is the same model and I created Recovery discs but I also left the 'C' disk at 400Gb to make

sure the recovery partition was affected. I then partitioned the remainder 430GB in two more

more partitions, 'E' for Video editing of 230GB and'F' of 200GB just to hold work or Films in progress

               until burnt to blu-ray discs.

After finishing my Recovery partition was still intact and 'Fired' it up just to check it would open

               if needed at any time!

You just have to keep your finger on the Partitioning button for a while to get the the result you

                require.

Take you time and since it is measured in MB it is worth remembering 1024MB to

1GB. So it is better to work out your needs with a calculator and write on a piece of paper so

               no mistakes are made.

                                                       Best regards Brian
