VAIO VPCL12M1E CD/DVD Drive Drivers

I installed Windows 8 and am now missing the driver for the CD/DVD drive. I have the model with CD/DVD drive not Bluray. The drivers page for the model only has firmware not the drivers, so I can currently not use my optical drive. Please help.

Hi bendyke, have you checked to see if the DVD/CD drive appears in device manager?

Thanks for email. No the CD/DVD drive was not listed in device manager. I was able to find a solution that involved editing the registry. It appears the issue is with how Windows 8 handles the drive.
