VAIO SVE1513A4E will not boot from anything other than HDD

My VAIO SVE1513A4E refuses to boot from anything other than the HDD, even though I am using a USB stick which I know is bootable (on a DELL PC). Before I get the usual suggestions of F2, F11, ASSIST Button etc. I have tried them and none work, even changing the boot sequence in BIOS fails to make any difference. Anyone had a similar experience?

That's strange. If you contact Sony Support about your VAIO SVE1513A4E, they should be able to assist you further with this.

Thanks, but somehow I did manage to get the machine to boot to the USB drive. Only by changing boot options in BIOS though, not using the 'Assist' button.
