wifi not connecting sony vaio VGN-NW24S

I have a VGN-NW24S. I switched of some startup programes and now do not see any network connections. Have switched on all the startup which I had stopped. Still no luck. Running Windows 7.Any suggestions

You don't see the network icon or you don't have a network connection?

Maybe you accidentally disabled the WiFi switch:

Thank you for your message. The Wi-fi switch in the front is on and I have tried switching it on and off and then back on. I can connect with a hard wire but not wireless. May be the Wi-fi has been disabled and I need to enable it. Any suggestions on how I can do that?

Hi Carl,

Maybe you disabled the VAIO smart network function.

Can you check if it's enabled?

Else you might want to re-install this feature:
