hi i own a VGN-FZ38M laptop and recently installed seven,after which i lost use of the funtion keys+volume control,camera ect,tried installing vista drivers ect,didnt work,so i restored back to factory defaults so now back on vista,is this model able to be upgradd and have all functions working???? if so how???
any help would be great

Also have the FZ-38M and considering upgrade to Windows 7. W7 Upgrade Advisor suggests NVIDIA is not compatible and I know Sony do not appear to support this model for upgrade. Did you ever resolve your issues and have you since succesfully upgraded. If so any advice would be appreciated. Thanks

Which version of Windows 7 were you going to use? 32bit or 64bit?

I have used / installed this laptop with windows 7 32bit, with drivers, without trouble.

I used the updated drivers found on the Sony-Asia support site:

http://www.sony-asia.com/support/download/product/vgn-fz38gu/modelfirst

Look under the section " Software Patches " and you will find what you need.

I was going to install Windows 7 32bit also and with Sony's on-line support more or less got to the same place as you. Great to hear that it worked and I will give it a go this weekend. Thanks for the info, I will let you know how I get on.

Not much luck. Carried out windows upgrade and then installed a number of Sony drivers but apart from basic windows 7 working couldn't get drivers to work - no DVD, no hot-keys etc.

Did you do a full install or upgrade and any more advice

Not much luck. Basic Windows 7 OK but no Sony function and no Blueray disc play.
