Sony Vaio SVS1513C5E Clicking Noise - Hard Drive?

My new Vaio SVS1513C5E makes intermittent clicking/knocking sounds. Not loud but I think they are coming from the hard drive.

I have read about this and I hear that it may be due to the parking head of the hard drive.

Is there anyway to fix this.The laptop is over £1.2k and I never had this with cheaper laptops.

Any help would be great.

I have the exact same problem with my svs13a3c5e laptop, which I bought from sony webstore a couple of weeks ago. It is very annoying! There's a youtube video in which you can hear the clicking noise very similiar to mine. Someone comments the video that the problem diapeared after a few months.

This is my 2nd one. I took the last one back as I was concerned that the hard drive would fail.

The one that I have now makes more of a knocking sound intermittently.

Surely there must be someone at Sony who knows what is going on. Shocking that it has obviously been going on for a while but really bad feedback from Sony.

All I can say.. if my hard drive fails with my important data on it I will be lodging more than a complaint against Sony.

At the same time why should I experience an annoying knocking/clicking sound when using my laptop.

This occured with my laptop and the motherboard burned out completely destroying the laptop. I have to get a new one now, very dissappointed in Sony, but since the garauntee was passed i cant do anything...

My machine has the same exact problem. I am not even sure it is the HDD as it's not coming from that area of the laptop.

Does anyone have any updates/info?

If this is wide spread, I will be seeking a refund as I only received it 2 weeks ago!

I have already contacted Sony and I am waiting for a response.

Hey,

i think i found a way to fix this. try the following steps:

1) press the Assist button and go to Vaio care

2) go to Troubleshooting

3) there select System Tune-up

it takes about five to ten minutes to run this program. it does some stuff to the hard drive i don't fully understand but after i did mine i haven't heard the sound in a couple of days. hope this works!

My laptop started clicking again! The system tune-up doesn't work. When I don't use my laptop for example 15-20 minutes it starts to click and addition to that the fan gets really loud. There are no applications or anything running on the backround causing the sound.
