It still plays, rips and burns cds without any problem.The dvd device is not the original but a lite on dvdrw LH-18A1P which I installed a few years ago to replace the original pioneer which developed exactly the same problem that I have now. this is the only problem I have ever had with this computer in 10 years.</P><P></P><P>Since this problem reappeared a couple of weeks ago, I have completely reinstalled windows xp home edition and all of the updates to no avail.</P><P></P><P>Any help would be gratefully appreciated.</P><P></P><P>Before suggesting I buy a new computer - I have a brand new sony vaio laptop which I am very happy with.
