Tablet dead, Sony won't fix it.

My Z2 Tablet that's not even 3 years old recently died. I don't know what happened but it won't charge or turn on. I tried hard reset (volume up, power), I tried pressing the reset button on sim tray, I tried charging it overnight, I tried connecting it to PC Companion, nothing works. I called Sony and they told me they couldn't repair it without extended warranty, which I no longer have. They pretty much told me the policy changed in the U.S where they won't repair any devices! This is ridiculous, now I'm stuck with an expensive tablet that doesn't work and I have no way to fix it just because I bought it in the U.S. I should be able to send in the tablet for repair somewhere even if I have to pay a lot of money for it. Any suggestions?

I'm sorry to hear about your issue, but what if you leave the tablet connected to a wall charger for 3 or more hours ?

I have. I've left it charging for over a day. The LED does not turn on. The tablet is essentially dead.

Hi exactly the same thing happened to mine there is absolutely nothing you can do it is positively dead. Mine was still under guaranteed although I did have to pay the postage they completely changed the mother board just shows what a pile of crap they actually are would never buy another one there customer service was also bad.

If they changed the motherboard in yours why can't they change it in all the others that are dead

First let your tablet to have 0℅ battery by leaving it without charging, then connect it to the stand charger. That worked for me

My Xperia Z2 tablet stopped charging too. It happened when the battery was completely flat and so the tablet was switched off. I could not recharge the tablet (the red light would not come on).

I tried different cables, etc. No change. The problem was the charger. Sony, in its wisdom, has made the Xperia Z2 with a slow-charge battery. Continued use with a normal charger (these days most chargers are 1000 or 1500mA) causes the problem. It seems that these higher 'mA' chargers will work when you are topping up the power but not when the battery is completely flat. I was using a new charger (from my new Sony mobile) which is a 1500mA charger, and the red charging light would go off.

I changed the charger to a Sony 850mA charger (i.e. same charger that came with the tablet) and it now charges without fault, albeit slower.
