I am new to the community and not sure if I am posting in the right place.

My Sony Bravia is eight years old but I have been perfectly happy with it. Just this week, it will no longer retain programmes after it has been switched off and I have to retune each time I switch on. It does only take a minute of so to retune each time but it's still a a drag.

I think I read somewhere that firmware or software updates were available for download to fix this but even if that is so, I have no USB input on my TV. I just don't have the money to replace what is otherwise a perfectly good TV.

It may be just coincidence that this has only happend after a Sky engineer came and forced a software update onto my Skybox. Up until now I have watched freeview channels through the Skybox but I am thinking of cancelling my Sky sub so would like to get this problem fixed if possible.

Any suggestions as to why this has happened now? Any suggestions how to fix it other than to buy a new TV?
