KDL-50w829b - Picture stopped working.

Sound and backlight work. No images at all, including the welcome Sony logo, menu functions etc. Tried all inputs, and a power reset.

I see that some KDL models were offered extended warranty because of the same issue, but this model isn't covered in that notice.

TV is three years old.

Any advice on possible cause and solution please?

This is the second that I've seen on this, I've had mine three years too and I love this TV...I hope this doesn't become widespread.

Do you have a store warranty? May still be covered if it was from John Lewis or somewhere similar .
