Using HMDI sockets on Bravia 26S55 TV

I have a Sony Bravia 26S55 tv set with two HDMI sockets. The first socket HDMI 1 is filled with a Sky lead. I have

inserted an LG DVD player in the second socket but can't get the tv to acknowledge HDMI 2.

TV Settings will not fill in the HMDI 2 settings.

Is this because Sky has locked the HDMI settings to only acknowledge Sky?

I would be grateful for any assistance.

do you mean, that the TV doesn't automatically name the HDMI2 according to the connected player?

That can be the case if the player doesn't send your TV its info.
