I've had no crashes with mine which I've had for 2 months now. No problems using Twitter either. Probably just one of those things, but I dont think anything to worry about.
Hi @Stevo123uk, sorry to hear that.
If it occurs again (which it hopefully won't) you can try and hold the power button and volume up at the same time for 10 seconds and then power on the device as you would normally do. This will force a restart/shut down in case the device stops responding and works the same way as removing the battery on older devices.
It's very hard to say exactly what the cause is since there are so many different things that could cause the device to freeze, but if it should occur again, try and write down what you were doing at the time for example, it only occurs when using a specific app or service.
You are of course very welcome to get back to us if it should occur again!
@JonHC, I'm glad to hear that it has not occurred for you and I can count on one hand how many times it has occurred for me over the past 5 years, so hopefully it was just a one time thing!
Have a nice day!
Jonas beat me to it, with his answer:D
That is what i like about Sony phones, they don't often crash and they dotn start lagging after 6 months-unlike a certain other manufacture that is"BROTHER" to Sam.
@GilgameshUK, haha!
I'm glad to hear that you are pleased with the stability of our software!
As I wrote, it has happened to me a few times in 5 years and since there are so many different causes, it may not even have been the software that was the root cause, it could have been some third party application acting up, my SD card and on.
Have a nice weekend!

Have a nice weekend!Stability of Sony software has never been the issue here, its stability of VIDEO at 4k that erks me. I have given up of Sony ever sorting out the OIS+EIS issue as I dont think it will ever be fixed (judging the latest firmware is just security fixes)
This is the only thing that im really angry with Sony about.
However rest of the phone I have no issues.
Time to buy a gimbal and put Sony X1 inherent video stability issues to bed once and for all.
Lovely phone, fantastic software, great camera for stills-let down by sloppy work on video stability,
