Sony RDR-HXD790 which cannot format DVD-RWs anymore.

I have a Sony DVD Recorder RDR-HXD790 which cannot format DVD-RWs anymore.  It used to format them fine.  Any ideas what I can do?

Have you tried using different types of DVD-RW disc?

Good thought but yes, it doesn't seem to work with any DVD-RW disks.  I used to be able to format them but now I'm not able to.  Don't know why.
