UK release information- No one seems to know anything!!

So it's pretty clear from looking on this support forum that the Xperia SP has been released in a few places already, since people are clearly using it and asking questions.

I've been looking at this phone since April when my upgrade was due. It's been 'Coming Soon' since then. I went into an EE/Orange shop last weekend and they had a working SP on display but they tell me that they don't have it in stock and that it's on 'back order' but will be in next week (Week beginning 20th May). Before this, I was told 29th April, which got pushed back to 11th May and now this week.

No one in the UK has it yet and no one can say why. I sent Sony an email to ask when it would appear in the UK shops and what the hold up was and got this:

Currently Sony Xperia does not have an exact release date for the Sony Xperia (product) as we are still going through our final testing stage. We would suggest that you frequently visit the Sony Xperia website for further information regarding release dates for this product along with the features & specifications.

Please follow the steps below to access the section of the Sony Xperia website to view information regarding this product:

1. Go to www.sonymobile.com
2. Select your region
3. Click Products
4. Beneath the Sony Xperia product you are interested in, select “Check It Out”

So other countries have it, EE have it on display in their shops and say it will arrive this week and this Ian guy tells me that they are still testing it?? Also suspect of the fact the message says "release date for the Sony Xperia (product)" meaning it's a pre-written automatic response meant for 'dealing with' general release date enquiries. He has clearly forgotten to put SP in there. Also the link to the sony mobile blog does not work.

So is it still being tested? Will arrive this week? Is it going to be delayed again? What is going on and why is no one able to give me a straight answer?

Sorry to hear that you have been unable to get any information on release date.

If your local Sony Xperia support doesn't have any date/week for launch then i'm afraid there's no information available at the moment. Regarding the reason i can only guess but it could be testing for operator approval or similar.

Keep checking our store (http://shop.sonymobile.com/gb/buy/xperia-sp-black/1272-0816/) to see when it's in stock contact your local support every now and then to check status.

They have typed the address to our blog wrong. There's no www, only http://blogs.sonymobile.com/

Thank you for answering in a nice way.

A couple of the other Sony staff who answered my emails/messages were quite rude to me and it really didn't make me want to wait around even longer for a Sony phone. It doesn't take much effort to be polite and I was quite put off by the whole thing. I understand you probably get a lot of spam and trolls in here, but it's no reason to get nasty with a genuine customer who just wants some questions answering after being fobbed off and lied to by members of Sony and Orange alike.

Just recieved a message from Orange saying that my order is on its way now. Sony site still says coming soon but fingers crossed mine will arrive tomorrow.

Mine arrived on Friday (24/05/13). I pre-ordered it from T-Mobile on a pay monthly contract.
