Xperia SP won't charge or turn on

Hello sony mobile people. Since yesterday, I have not been able to charge or even even turn on my phone! It was charging via a laptop till the battery was at about 30%, then I got a phone call, and the screen went weird and fuzzy, and since then I have not been able to turn it on. And when I try and charge it, the light goes bright red, then dims and eventually turns off after about 5-10 mins. This repeats if you leave it charged, via a PC or charger (and yes, I am using an official sony charger and cable). Can you please help because this is starting to become a nightmare. I should also mention, when I plug it into a PC or laptop, it only gets recognized for a second (while the charging red light is bright red, when it dims its like its not there so I cannot use it with my PC)

Thanks!

I resolved the problem by taking a small plastic brush that came supplied with my hair clippers and slightly moistened it using water. Be sure only to use a very small amount of water. I then inserted the brush into the micro USB port on my phone and also inside the micro USB connector teeth. The twisting action throughly cleaned the insides and removed all the dirt and grease accumulated when the phone was inside my pocket. My Sony Xperia SP now charges without any problems and so should yours. Good luck!

Hello. My battery was at 1% when my gf started to take pictures with it, and it turned off. I pluged it in to a charger that is not from Sony, but it is a USB-microUSB charger and the phone didn't charge.. Then i swiched to my Xperia SP charger and the red light showed like its charging for about 5s, then it went off. Now my phone doesn't charge and will not turn ON or show any signs of life.. I tried both the ''off'' button and ''off+volume down & off+volume up" and it wont turn on.

I left it to charge over night, and tried to turn it on, and it still wont respond.

Is there anything i can do?

Hi Sony. I have a Sony experia sp, i think. I bought this phone in January. This is the third Sony experia orange have had to send me since then. In April my phone updated and froze, in June time my second phone started to go so slow it took an age to open a message. I thought that the third phone would be Ok but it's now only about 5 months on and this phone will hardly charge. It take around half and hour sometimes longer to get the charger to work. The phone dies and switches off then back on in the middle of the day even if there is full charge and now every few days the hearing device breaks down and I can only take or make a phone call when on loud speaker which is no good for personal calls if out and about. I have a 2 year contract and there is no way this third phone will last that long. I don't know what I'm supposed to do. Can you help?

Hi,

same problem.

Here is the solution.

Remove back cover below the battery, there is a switch as "OFF". Press it using a pointed object like a pen.

Phone will start.:smileyhappy:
