Hi,
I have been experimenting with Qriocity to watch movies using my Sony BD-470. I watched one film a few weeks ago just fine (although just before the end Virgin Media "cut-me-off" for going over my bandwidth limit for the day).
However, about 3 weekends ago, we sat down to watch "The A-Team" in HD, and it didn't work very well. The video played for about a minute and then paused re-loading for around 3mins and then played for around a min again etc.. until we gave up.
I know what you are thinking, I have a bandwidth problem on my internet connection - but not so. I checked the connection using SpeedTest.net and it reported a healthy 9.5Mb/s. My router reports bandwidth usage and I could see that the Sony BD player was using less that 500kb/s, which is why is wasn't working.
After giving up we downloaded the movie and watched it on iTunes, it downloaded the entire 2 hour movie in just under 40mins. Looking at bandwidth it was using around 3.5Mb/s to the full 9Mb/s. (OK - it was SD not HD, but it proves the bandwidth was there).
So 3 questions:
1. Is there a problem at Sony's end with Bandwidth? This would have been around Sunday the 9th Jan.
2. How do I get re-imbursed for the movie? We were very dissapointed and ended up paying for it again from Apple.
3. If I plug a memory stick in to the back of the player, will it download more of the movie, like iTunes so I can still use the service even when there is a bandwidth black hole?
Thanks,
Matt.
I have had a similar problem with Qriocity streaming to my bravia TV and blu-ray player. I've not yet been able to establish whether this is due to traffic management by Virgin or a local issue on their network or an issue with the TV (or blu-ray player) or Qriocity themselves. They did reimburse my "wallet" for the failed film, but its not much use if I can't use it successfully. Have you had any success since posting this issue. I have had software updates for both the TV and the blu-ray but it doesn't seem to have solved it yet.
