Connect Dell laptop to Bravia KDL-37EX403

I can connect my Dell Inspiron laptop to my Panasonic 47" plasma by connecting the two devices by a VGA cable then pressing Fn+F8 on the laptop and setting laptop resolution to 1024 x 768.

When I connect the laptop and the Bravia, using the same cable, I cannot see the laptop on the TV. The laptop registers that there is a Sony TV connected but the TV keeps the PC option greyed out.

How can I connect the Dell to the Bravia?

Folow steps pls.

http://support.sony-europe.com/tutorials/tvhc/computer2tv/computer2tv.aspx?site=odw_en_GB&m=KDL-46NX...

Chose Your grafic card, klik on and folow connection instruction, scrooll down.

VGA carry video but no sound, so use 3,5 chinch to connect sound from PC to TV. Input is exatly under or by VGA on television rear site.

When You made connection as on link down, do not forget to go manu-setings-PC to alow picture on monitor.

On button I manua,l on remote Bravia, when you go to setings over tab using a home manu, You will find

there You will find follows parametars

Screen (for PC input)
Auto Adjustment
Automatically adjusts the display position, and phase of the picture in PC mode.

“Auto Adjustment” may not work well with certain input signals. In such cases, manually adjust “Phase”, “Pitch”, “Horizontal Shift”, and “Vertical Shift”.
Reset
Resets all PC screen settings to factory settings.
Phase
Adjusts the phase when the screen flickers.
Pitch
Adjusts the pitch when the picture has unwanted vertical stripes.
Horizontal Shift
Adjusts the horizontal position of the picture.
Vertical Shift
Adjusts the vertical position of the picture.
Screen Format/Wide Mode
(option name varies depending on your region/country)
Select “Normal” to display the original picture, “Full 1” to enlarge the picture to fill the display area maintaining its original, or “Full 2” to enlarge the picture to fill the display area.

So, I manual-using the home manu-icone display-Screen for PC input

Thank you for your reply but I have a:-

Mobile Intel(R) 4 Series Express Chipset family graphics card.

Using its properties > Multiple Displays shows Primary Display = Built in and Secondary display = Monitor SONY TV. This is detected as soon as I plug the VGA cable into the laptop. But still the TV shows PC as greyed out; therefor  TV thinks no PC connnected.

Any more adsvice please?
