I have just bought a KD-49XG7093 tv and a Sonos Beam soundbar. I subscribe to Sky so that is plugged into HDMI 1 port. The Sonos Beam is plugged into the HDMI/ARC port. Everything works really well except that I cannot get rid of the Info Banner strip that comes up across the top of the tv every time there is a break! Somewhere I read that you can find Info Banner On/Off switch in Settings, but I cannot find it anywhere. Can anyone help?
Not sure if your TV set is runs Android software but this may work:
Home -> Settings -> Channel Settings -> Infobar -> Off
Unfortunately my Bravia 32WD756 runs Linux software without this option, so am stuck with the near constant presence of the info bar when using my Apple TV (especially on Netflix as sound swaps between stereo and DD 5.1). If this doesn't work, I implore you to contact Sony directly so we may at least get some of firmware fix in the future.
Regards
I do not understand why but there is no “info bar” item within “channel setup”! Help!

Hi @MGFMGF Unfortunately Sony have been ignoring this problem for years. Turning off the Info Banner is only available on Android TVs. The only work-a-round for Linux users is to degrade their audio experience by changing their input device to PCM/Normal 2.0 stereo. In your case change the Sky box to Normal and this should stop the audio format changes so the Info Banner doesn’t need to report it. Add your name to the thousands of complaints at Sony UK Support
