kdl-40v3000 bravia dark lines/shadows.

i have exactly the same problem as the other people who have written about this tv model on the forum and there seems to be manty many more out thereon forums reporting the same problem that sony will not acknowledge.

there are dark lines running down my screen and a dark shadow line about an inch think on the right hand side of my screen, this was more noticable when watching football. my tv is not under warrranty anymore but is only 2 and a 1/2 years old. it seems that sony have created their screens to only last this long as lots of people have the same complaint.

i have just rang sony and i have been told that "there is no known problems with this model" that is rubbish as clearly there are a few of us just on this forum with the same pronblem. So we are paying about £1000 for a tv that will only last 2.5 years. i am disgusted with the lack of help and support from the sony call centre staff who basically said i need to get it fixed myself and i need to book it in with a service engineer. I suspect this is a problem with the panel or with the screen where a replace ment would cost you more than getting a new set. it would cost me £45 just for someone to come out and tell me that without even having it repaired. as a dedicated sony buyer over the years i cannot believe that my most expensive buy has only lasted 2.5 years.

WHY IS SONY NOT DOING ANYTHING ABOUT THIS PROBLEM??

To the latest wave of people that have recently signed up to report the EXACT same manufacturing fault that Sony hasnt heard of, can you please forward your story to Watchdog here

http://www.bbc.co.uk/watchdog/gotastory/

Thanks

Just sent a letter to watchdog with a full breakdown of the problem and Sony's response. Let's hope there's enough for this to get some attention.

I'm also going to take this to Trading Standards and have spoken to a friend in the legal profession who suggested taking Sony to the small claims court could be a possibility.

Genuinely disgusted by Sony's treatment of their customers.

I too have the same problem as others here.  I have a big shadow on the left side that curves, one slightly off the center and a small one one the right hand side.

It started off not too noticable but im not sure if's getting worse or if im just getting annoyed with it more.

This is a real distraction when watching tv or playing my xbox, seems to be that the darker colours, blues, greys, dark greens etc. are when it's really (as in, that's not right) bad.

Why don't sony just admit that this is a design/manufactiring fault with the tv?  I think they're forgetting what happened the last time around when it was all the Playstation 3 ylod problems, watchdog kicked them into action and got something done about it.

Is there a template around here that i can use for sending a complaint about this to sony?  I reckon i should let them know about my problem (even though ill get fobbed off), especially since i only bought the tv about 2 and half years old.

Attached a pic to show you all too.

I have the same problem on an older set KDL-V40A12 - the problem tho' started only a couple of years after I bought it. I wondered if it could be dust attracted to certain internal components. Is this possible?

It's very noticeable on mine when the background is light.

The shadows on my set are about a third of the way in from both the right and the left, closer to the top of the screen.

I've got exactly the same problem myself and am digusted by the treatment I've received from SONY. I've been fobbed off and lied to on several occasions, I've been a loyal customer to the brand for many years, and would never considered  buying anything other than a SONY TV they were the best. After the way I've been treated I will NEVER buy another of their products. I have written to 'Watchdog' in the hope our collective voice may get a reaction,, and get the problem fixed.

I edited that e-mail out as its not correct and really only meant for internal us within Sony.  Still, you should have got a reply, in fact I am surprised you didn’t, not least because I have access to that in-box.

I shall send the email again.  I still have a copy of the message in my sent box from 29/06/11

Still trying to get our set sorted...

I also found loads of other people with the same issue here:

http://www.avforums.com/forums/lcd-led-lcd-tvs/1230539-sony-bravia-v3000-vertical-shadow-problem-4.h...

But Sony don't seem to be taking many seriously... so i was wondering how many of you have successfully managed to get this sorted outside warranty?

Cheers
