kdl-40v3000 bravia dark lines/shadows.

i have exactly the same problem as the other people who have written about this tv model on the forum and there seems to be manty many more out thereon forums reporting the same problem that sony will not acknowledge.

there are dark lines running down my screen and a dark shadow line about an inch think on the right hand side of my screen, this was more noticable when watching football. my tv is not under warrranty anymore but is only 2 and a 1/2 years old. it seems that sony have created their screens to only last this long as lots of people have the same complaint.

i have just rang sony and i have been told that "there is no known problems with this model" that is rubbish as clearly there are a few of us just on this forum with the same pronblem. So we are paying about £1000 for a tv that will only last 2.5 years. i am disgusted with the lack of help and support from the sony call centre staff who basically said i need to get it fixed myself and i need to book it in with a service engineer. I suspect this is a problem with the panel or with the screen where a replace ment would cost you more than getting a new set. it would cost me £45 just for someone to come out and tell me that without even having it repaired. as a dedicated sony buyer over the years i cannot believe that my most expensive buy has only lasted 2.5 years.

WHY IS SONY NOT DOING ANYTHING ABOUT THIS PROBLEM??

Terrac in relation to your below post:

my problem has been resolved and I have accepted a KDL-40EX523 as a replacement.  I would like to thank the escalations team and Lee in particular for the help and attention I have received in resolving my issue.

can you please confrim if the above mentioned replacement was free of charge? As I am currently speaking to the escalation team regarding the same problem with my kdl-40V3000.

Many thanks

Similar problem, I have had this TV since 12/2008 TV panel was replaced on 12/2009 by Sony approved dealer and again within 6 month similar problem reoccur complained to Sony as the new TV panel was still under 12 warranty but Sony was not very helpful I feel very disappointed from a very respectable world wide company. they should acknowledge this issue with this LCD TV and offer every one with same problem a free repair or replace.

trading standard was contacted one several occasion,

and now risk of FIRE its just great :slight_frown:  not only watching TV with rain/cloud in it and you have to keep next to your TV fire extinguisher :smileyangry:Sony get your act together.

I have just noticed a discoloured/shadow verticle strip on the right hand side of my kdl-40v3000! (surprise surprise). It is not very noticable but guessing it will only get worse?

Also noticed some in the middle of the screen when panning sometimes.

I bought it in feb 2009, and have a Domestic and Generel sony extended gaurantee that runs out in 2013.

Will they be able to repair it or will i get a decent replacement set? The tv cost me £914

Think I will contact them in a couple of months, I don't want to be without a tv over christmass!

cheers

Dear all

I have just noticed my Sony KDL-40V3000 has shadowing problems on the screen.

The set was purchased back in 2008 and appears like u all the problems are now starting to show.

Does anyone know if Sony have accepted there are problems with the V Series??

Has anyone progressed with Sony regarding this issue?

Will post photos soon.

Ps The recall notice - my unit is humming at the back where the power lead connects into the tv - is this  a problem?

Ed

Hi,

My V3000 has had these lines for a while and like many of you it was purchased in 2008 (January). Has anyone had any successful feedback from Sony? I have emailed them regarding this problem - awaiting their reply.

On the fire issue....can someone tell me what this is?

Many thanks.

Jay

Please add me as well - The same dark shadow appeared on my KDL-40V3000 a couple of weeks ago on the right half of my screen! and would love to sign my name to any formal complaint. Common Sony Sort this out......

Further to my last post here is what Sony have to say:

'This is not a problem which Sony are aware of therefore a repair will be chargeable'.

Pardon me!!! There are countless people on this forum and other forums making the same complaint who have contacted Sony, how can they say they are unaware of this problem?!!

Update - contacted Comet as the retailer - they also are not interested unless we want to pay them for a repair!

Has anyone here had any joy with this?

Yes, here's another customer with the shadow on his KDL-40V3000.  Bought in January 2008 from Manchester Arndale Sony Centre, I've got the peace of mind of a Sonex 5 year warranty, but I've just found out that Sonex called in the administrators in September and my warranty (if they acknowledge it) may be useless.

I've got dark lines (like a drop shadow on the screen) around the right and bottom sides of the screen, which is getting steadily darker.  Most noticeable on mid to dark hues, it's especially distracting on panning shots.

I've been in touch with the store I bought from (cost £1050.00 on 23rd January 2008) and they've taken my details, but the chap on the phone said there'd be little they could do, as they were closing for good on Sunday!

So, if anyone else out there has a Sonex warranty, it might be useless!  Watchdog anyone?  I feel I've been mis-sold, as when I walked into a Sony Centre, I thought I was buying from Sony, but now I find out I've bought from a failed franchise holder.

Well, much to their credit, Manchester Arndale Sony Centre have just called me back and apparently, from next Tuesday, the Sony support website will allow me to report and book the job in.  Now whether that's for the check on the power issue (recall notice) or the dark shadow lines, I'm not sure.

Maybe Sony are about to 'man-up' to it?
