SRS-LSR100 compatibility with Bravia KDL- 40V4000

Hi 

This is a real Luddite query.

I'm considering the SRS-LSR100 wireless speaker to help with my hearing problem, but need to ensure that our 11 year old Bravia KDL-40V4000  is compatible (haven't replaced it as is built like a tank).

In neither the manual or the menu, can I make out whether the TV internal speaker can be left operational when an audio output device is connected to the optical PCM port.

Any help much appreciated.

Hi Stwaldm65,

The function you're looking for is usually referred to as headphones/speaker link. I've searched everywhere in the manual and I couldn't find it. I think it isn't supported by this TV model.

Many thanks for your response. I suspected that my old Bravia wouldn’t have the settings I need. I’m now looking at a phono-to-3.5mm-jack adaptor lead, so I can plug into the TV amp output connectors.

Hi Stwaldm65,

This could be an option but I don't think that the functionality of using an adaptor is guaranteed to work. Besides, I can see that the TV has got both audio out and headphones jacks and the speaker comes with an optical cable so you can just directly connect both devices.

I am thinking of buying this RF speaker from John Lewis, and their tech help line tells me that if I can’t get the thing to work with the TV internal speaker still operational, they will accept return of product.

Thanks to your help I have 2 or 3 options to try, so I will give it a go.
