Files cannot be opened until restart

my Sony Ultrabook running Windows 8 has a annoying problem relating to being able to open files.

After a short period of use I will try and open a file and be told that I do not have permission or the file is read only.

If I restart the machine then I can open the file normally. This has been going on since I have had the machie in December 2012 and it's very frustrating.

It can apply to any file type - Word,  Excel, PDF, Money etc

any clues as to how to fix it so a restart is not necessary

This sounds like a very strange issue indeed. I presume you bought the machine as new? Does this only happen with files you have created? Or does it happen with e.g. C:/Program Files/ SOME PROGRAM TEXT FILE

Is the machine part of a corporate network? Or is it your home machine not from a company?
