Hi,
My sony vaio SVE1711R1EB laptop's wi-fi is spec'ed to operate at up to 150Mbps Tx/Rx however it only operates at 72Mbps and VAIO's tech support reckons that this will all it will do hence this means that the product is incorrectly spec'ed!?
Has anybody else got this issue?
thanks
Gav
Hi Gav,
Regardless of what Support have told you the Atheros AR9485 adaptor does support up to 150 Mbps data rate. It is unlikely that you will achieve the full speed but I would expect to see somewhere between 100 and 130 Mbps.
Are you sure that your router supports this speed (IEEE 802.11n) and have you tried changing the wireless channel in case there is interference on the current channel? Also, and this may not be relevant as you have speeds above 54 Mbps, check the wireless interface type is set to include ‘n’.

Just to be sure on the speeds you are achieving can you please open Task Manager > Networking tab and let us know the max. link speed on the wireless network connection. This will probably fluctuate every few seconds – this is normal depending on activity.
