Personally, I would say it is not normal but it is just possible that the latest HDDs do this.

If you are concerned, I would contact Vaio Support and ask their advice. To contact Vaio Support go here: -

and click on 'Vaio and Conputing'. A window will open and you should enter the Vaio's Serial Number. You will then be offered contact options. Unfortunately, they are only open during office hours - so you will need to wait until Monday.
