For a few days now my notification setting drop-down has been misbehaving. It's difficult to bring down then keep down. The brightness slider doesn't work. Cannot remove an icon from home screen by long pressing and dragging it upward to the trash can.
Done! Notification drop-down behaving better but slider still not working. Further suggestions? Please don't tell me to do a factory reset.
Sonymobile sent me an email: "Did any of the answers solve your problem?" Ha! I got one useless answer. It's a stock answer, start in safe mode. That never solves anything. Besides, the replier didn't say just how to go about troubleshooting. I started in safe mode, no change. I said so, everybody is stumped, no reply. Problem NOT SOLVED.
Sorry to not answering you back during the weekend, and I apologize that my "stock answer" did not help you. Safe mode is not intended to fix problems, it's a way to determine if a 3rd party app is causing the issue.
Then, in your reply, you asked us not to tell to do a factory reset. Unfortunately, it's the next step in troubleshooting to software repair using Xperia Companion. This will do a clean installation of the latest firmware and will also wipe your internal memory, thus fixing most of the software-related issues.
Come now, Quester. One point learned, it's not a 3rd party app, then the next step is a total brute force wipeout??
You know and I know that it's a specific Android glitch that is causing my problem because everything else is working ok (Except inserting headphone connector does not turn off the speakers..a deliberate Sony design flaw).
It takes expertise to solve these problems and I'm not finding it on this forum.
I ain't gonna do a factory reset. There are 3rd party apps that control brightness, I'm using one now as a workaround. Problem NOT SOLVED.
Never heard of an Android glitch that causes this, but seems you know more.
Maybe you can find more expertise at your Local support, contact them and hopefully, they'll satisfy your needs better than my tries.
Maybe people should appreciate support given for free instead of trying to belittle someone offering help, especially in their own time.
Must be nice being so rude.
