Camera comparison to Z5 Compact and X?

I currently have the Z5 Compact. I meant to purchase the X Compact but was sent the X instead. The rear camera seems a tiny bit better than my current phone but the front camera is WAY better, especially in low light. Now I'm nervous that if I return the X for the X Compact that I'll regret it because of the front facing camera.

Does anyone have experience with both the X and X Compact? I'm specifically interested in the quality of low light front camera shots. I'd love to see pictures from your X Compact in low light from the front camera. I actually considered getting the S7 instead because at least I can go test it in the store and it's water resistant, but I'd prefer a smaller phone.

it's a shame that the latest compact did not take on the latest flasghip.. but as far as I know both z5c and xcompact have the same front camera specs. i hope some xperia x compact users are able to shed light on this.

Hello, I don't know about the Z5 Compact but here are a couple of selfies with the X Compact in low light (if that can help, there is an Auto and Manual Mode, in the Manual Mode you can choose HDR and you can adjust the Exposure (EV) and White Balance (WB))

Sorry if the photos are very big but I wanted to share a quality closer to the original

@Delph84: very nice photos.! hahha scary cat though..

if this was taken with the selfie camera of Xperia X compact, I can say that it is better than the Xperia Z5 Compact, but nothing beats the 13MP of X or XZ..

As a matter of fact, people hate the XZ camera...You can check the XZ subforum. Thought about buying it myself until I saw that.

Does the XZ have the same camera as the X? I tried the camera on the X and think it's much better than my Z5 compact, especially in low light. I wasn't sure if the low light improvement carried over to the compact or not. Some sites say the sensors were improved (for front and rear camera) but none explicitly state whether it's the same exact camera or if the software was updated to improve it.

Hi Sony,

Among nowadays compact phones, X compact is surely the best one overall but few issue I have found also:

1. Camera it's lower in quality as Z5c. Sharper, faster capture but grainier and also the Hdr is not up to its elder brother. Good flash, good speed but very grainy results, blows away the fun of taking photos on day and night. On low light shots X comapct (like Z5c) have some kind of bluish in the darker zones of the image. It will be ideal to fix it!

2. Weak glove mode. I usually use normal gloves with glove function active on this one. Responds very fast and after a while it stops for a few miliseconds or so. I must touch the center of the screen and the to flow it to the corners to respond. Also corners are very weak in response with glove mode active. Using touch gloves without its function activated it's good but at its price tag should be flawless (last upgrade of android 6 for Z5c made it work perfectly).

3. The speakers are weaker and have less mediums (and bass) than Z5c.

I must say that these are problems after the latest Nougat updates.

All the best in fixing!

Sony, now (today) I did an upgrade of Android 7 to the X compact device but it didn't come with an upgrade for its camera module.

Camera needs improvement!

Please take note!

Thank you Rainbow

I am about to return an Xperia X Compact that I have been trying because - using my example of it - the results are very poor and fuzzy when cf'd to an S7.Sony todaySony today

Sony todaySony today

Galaxy S7 todayGalaxy S7 today

Surely the results should be better than this?

Do I assume a fault?

Camera focus seems to be completely broken, from my limited testing. Not sure what's going on here, or if it worked on previous firmware versions, as I just got this device and immediately updated it. I'm also debating returning mine as a bug like this is too big to ignore, and we'll probably get no response as to whether they acknowledge the issue or if a fix is in the works.
