My battery is awful since the last update. I used to get 4-5 hours of screen time before and now I can't even get 3. I tried factory reset and software repair from xperia companion and nothing changed. What can I do ?
@Fatalerror after a software upgrade/update and after a software repair you will need to give the phone the opportunity to calibrate. Give it a week to get a better estimate of remaining time. For what I see, however, I am noticing you are waking the device too much, probably checking if the battery is draining. My X Compact is with 20% Phone Idle and 15% of Android OS, no Screen on (I use smartwatches). You may want to check also if WIFI is on and continously scanning for networks, if you don't use Bluetooth then I recommend to turn it also off as it will scan from time to time and that will drain battery too.
All in all, an advice: Give it one to two weeks to calibrate and then let us know.
I updated about a week and half ago an the battery drains really quick. I used to get a good day and half of out it but now am lucky to get a full day. I haven't started to use my phone any more than normal... Any advise?
Anyone??
After a few days I installed a wakelock analiser. The problem is that the kernel keeps the phone awake when the bluetooth conection with my mi band is active. I need a fix for this. The battery was just fine before the update. The phone never dozes.
I had the same problem after the update. Fortunately, Sony sent another update 1 or 2 weeks after, and the problem was solved.
I would say mine is about 100% worse, I am now charging every day rather than every two-three.
Same issue for me.
I'm a new owner of this device: I used it with android 7.0 for a couple of weeks fully satisfied, then latest update with 7.1.1 arrived and battery life became terrible. It drains about 3%/hour in idle, worse than my previous LG G3... no chance to go back to 7.0?
My Xperia X Compacts's battery drain is not huge, but idle battery usage is on top of the list. 21% seems to be to too high.
Is it OK to have 21% by idle? If not, any suggestions, what causes too high battery usage?
Android 7.1.1
Thank you!
I am facing the same issue. It started with the September update and showed up after every update since. After 2 or 3 reboots it used to be fine, but recently the problem became persistent after I cleaned up my storage device (including cache cleaning). Power consumtion is more than twice as hight as usual.
So far I could not find out what is consuming the energy. In 3 different locations (system information and 2 battery apps) different / changing apps are the top consumers. Probably its always the current foreground app. CPU load is low, activating Stamina or flight mode does not help.
It is really strange. What component can cause such a huge energy consumption? Normally the power consumtion with activated display used to be ~300mA, resulting in a discharge rate of 10%/h. Now it is at 800mA / 30%/h, causing the device to get warm. However, the deep-sleep ratio is ok (> 80%), so it should not be a wakelock issue.
Sonys recommended a software repair, which I did not do yet because it will cause data loss. Also some guys in the forum did it w/o effect.
This somewhat strange "procedure" helped me a couple of times already:
- Reboot the phone
- when the lock screen appears, wait some more minutes
- when you are required to enter unlock your SIM, also wait a while
- Now the home screen appears. In 3 out of 4 cases now the Xperia Home app crashes. Confirm restart of the app. I never get a chance to send a crash report, maybe it is still to early in the startup process.
Afer some more minutes the phone is fine. When I reboot "in haste" I usually end up with the battery problem.
This strange behavious might appliy to my phone only, and it might be a bit bold to blame the Xperia Home app, but who knows ...
