my Xperia X suddenly died after getting into the water

my Xperia X died after getting into the water, it was intact with no openings. I tried to charge it after 20min and it flashes a red light continuously while plugged in. I tried to reboot it by holding the up volume button and the power button at the same time but it still refuses to switch on. What might be the problem?
