Hi,
My wife has an Xperia X and we just arrived in Australia and we put her Australian SIM card in, but she can't receive mobile data. This is strange because when we came a few months ago she got mobile data working no problem.
I have tried to change the APN, using the settings provided by the mobile service provider, but whenever I enter the info, I get the message:
"Access Point Names settings are not available for this user".
I've tried this in many ways, using back and save, restarting the phone, turning off mobile data, with wifi on and off, etc ... but nothing has worked.
Any help appreciated!
Thanks.
is or was the phone locked to a carrier/SIM locked / network branded? are you able to make calls? receive and send SMS?
Hi @kbos80, welcome to the community. I am sorry to hear about this issue.
@uliwooly is right, if it is locked to another network it can prevent you from changing the APN settings, so double check if it is a network branded device.
Try using the automatic settings under Settings > More > Internet Settings. Accept this.
Hi uliwooly,
Thanks for you reply. The phone is definitely unlocked, we have used it in Singapore, UK and with this very sim card in Australia previously - but this time it won't receive data.
Yes, can receive/make calls/messages.
Hi CameronT,
Thanks for your reply.
Yes, the automatic internet settings was the first thing I tried (as this had worked for the same problem when arriving in UK). Strangely, when I go to settings - more ... the 'internet settings' option is not there!
Software is up to date.
Any idea why this might be?
Thanks.
