Sudden drop in performance and battery life is due to Google assistant and Google Now feed having poor impact on Xperia and the 7.0-7.1.1

I switched both off, restarted, entire situation much improved!

Hi, thanks for sharing. I'm having the same issue, I found a way to disable GoogleAssistant (Swipe left to google now, Left top menu -> Settings -> Google Assistant Settings -> Disable, but I didn't find a way to disable Google Now (I disabled Google Voice instead). I'll let you know if is working in my case.. that's really annoying btw, my device used to be so smooth!
