X compact gets hot after 7.1.1 with August update

I own 2 Hong Kong versions and 3 USA versions of X compact, and 1 pink DoCoMo Japan version.

After the 7.1.1 update, the 2 HK and 3 USA phones are now runnning very hot and heat up quickly after very little chrome, gmail inbox, and google app use.

No other apps running. Inbox is my only downloaded app on all phones. 

Japan verison still on 7.0, still totally fine.

No, but it might be the way for XC to detect your phone.

Same thing, I reset the device but the "next" is grey and not selectable as shown in my previous screen shot.

does the computer detect the phone at all?

In regular mode when checking for updates, beginning the repair etc yes...

but once I follow the steps and turn off for 5 seconds, hold the volume down and insert back into computer via USB-C, then no... I just get as seen in screen shot and green light at the top of phone

you could reinstall XC, update JAVA, and try again.

I simply don't have the time for more steps.

While I applaud the amount of time you and your team put into helping consumers who find this online forum, Sony has a history of putting out brilliant devices and then ruining them one way or the other with these updates. 

Our Japan Xperia models are left alone with far fewer updates,

and as a result have always been just fine.

I am going to stick with Japan versions from now on.
