Hello,
I am unable to send or receive text messages on my new Sony Xperia X Compact. I purchased the phone from Amazon. If I do not get a resolution quickly to this issue, I intend to return the phone. I was so excited about getting this phone too. A simple function like being able to text is not working and finding a resolution has not been easy.
My provider Tracfone and I utilized their BYOP (Bring Your Own Phone.)
I can make phone calls and receive phone calls but I am unable to send or receive texts. I have thoroughly searched the forum here for an answer but could nto find one. I see that there are others who have issues sending and receiving texts.
I would really like to keep this phone. Is there someone who can help me?
In the Messaging app, I create the text message and send it and I do not get back any error messages. The Messaging apps saves the text in the app as part of a conversation. The recipients never receive the text message. Also, I am not receiving text messages from others who send them. These are simple text with just one sentence or a few words. I can make phone calls and receive phone call.
I will recommend 1st to restart your phone in safe mode and checking if the SMS are going out, then open your SMS application, go in settings, advanced and then Get SMS delivery report. Try to send a message, you will see a checkmark near the message if the message is delivered. You can also long press the message you just sent, select details and check if the message was delivered...
... If you see your SMS got delivered then you can try questioning your carrier, your friend or friend's carrier T why the message is sent, delivered but never available to be read..
It may be not your phone the issue
By the way, instructions to restart your phone in safe mode#
I installed Textra from Google Play. I still cannot send or receive text messages.
I will try starting the phone is Safe Mode and will try to text. I will let you know how it goes.
I tried sending a text from Safe Mode and it did not work. Signal is at 4 bars. Are there some other parameters that need to be configured to get the text messaging working?
I will try to put the SIM card into my previous phone. It is very old - from 2010 and it is not a smartphone. I was able to send and receive texts with the old phone. I do have two adapters for the nano SIM card to make it fit a micro and a standard. I will need to do later this evening when I am at home as I am at work right now. I will let you know how it goes.
