Xperia X Compact - Unable to send or receive text messages

Hello,

I am unable to send or receive text messages on my new Sony Xperia X Compact.  I purchased the phone from Amazon.  If I do not get a resolution quickly to this issue, I intend to return the phone.  I was so excited about getting this phone too. A simple function like being able to text is not working and finding a resolution has not been easy.

My provider Tracfone and I utilized their BYOP (Bring Your Own Phone.) 

I can make phone calls and receive phone calls but I am unable to send or receive texts.  I have thoroughly searched the forum here for an answer but could nto find one.  I see that there are others who have issues sending and receiving texts. 

I would really like to keep this phone. Is there someone who can help me?

I tried the SIM card in my old phone but it would not work.  There was a message on the phone that stated, "SIM Lock Code-1".  I am still unable to send or receive text messages.

I have returned the Sony Xperia X Compact to Amazon. The texting issue was never resolved.  I spent several days workng with several different phone support people (Sony, Tracfone & Amazon).  My conclusion is that the unlocked phone had some sort of defect preventing it to do SMS Text Messaging.
