Z5C better than x compact?

I am planning to replace my Z1compact and like the compact format - and started looking a X compact. But then I did compare it with Z5compact and even though Z5c is 1 year older it seems to be equal OR BETTER?

Camerawise it is better video resolution in Z5C according to GSM arena

http://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone1=8292&idPhone2=7535

and I have also read the thread here:

http://talk.sonymobile.com/t5/Xperia-X-Compact/Camera-comparison-to-Z5-Compact-and-X/m-p/1185371#U11...

but regarding CPU is z5C more powerful than XC?

Z5C: Qualcomm MSM8994 Snapdragon 810, Octa-core (4x1.5 GHz Cortex-A53 & 4x2.0 GHz Cortex-A57), Adreno 430

XC:Qualcomm MSM8956 Snapdragon 650, Hexa-core (4x1.4 GHz Cortex-A53 & 2x1.8 GHz Cortex-A72), Adreno 510

I do not know qualcom chipsets very much but lower values normally signals lower performance (two less cores in XC and lower clock frequency and lower model number, all seems slower in my eyes - or am I wrong?

The rest is almost identical except that Z5C is officially IP68 certified.

It older better in this case?

This is really a very tricky decision to be made.

I have an Xperia Z5 Compact and had compared it with a X compact at a sony showroom.

here are my thoughts:

Z5c over X compact

1.) it is a flaghip range device (whether old or not, a flaghip is a flaghip)

2.) better design and materials. matt glass vs smudge prone plastic?

3.) small apps. (well I use them more than multi window)

4.) better GPU

5.) water resistance is life

6.) 4K recording

 7.) FM Radio

X compact over Z5c

1.) newer ( means support would be longer)

2.) 3 image sensor capability

4.) much better display. brighter and more neutral color

5.) slightly better images (maybe arround 10% or less)

6.) more camera features

7.)better CPU

here's the gist about the cpu cores, eventhough SD810 is an octacore, it uses the older cortex a57, as compared to sd 650 which as fewer cores but newer ones cortex a72 which is more efficient (read: less heating). the sd810 performs best in heavy but short tasks but due to thermal throtling it will slow down eventually. SD 650 will last longer but wont be able to handle the same load as the sd 810 would.

is compact sizes are your main point in buying your next xperia? why not consider X Performance? personally I think this phone is like the combination of z5Compact and X Compact.

Yes, size is important to me - I want to have my mobile in trouser front pocket and larger than compact size will not match that.

I also want waterproof and FM radio (FM radio disqualifies X perf).

Most important what you need fro smartphone? When i bough C5 Ultra i looking for good camera, memory (ram/phone). Music quality sound. 4G connection. Size of screen, resolution. Coz i'm using smartphone a lot of for music, games, camera and ect. I need a lot of things fro it. So you must asked yourself what do you want from smartphone.

X Compact is newest neither Z5 Compact, so you will get all newest features from Sony, that's my opinion is plus. X Compact is little bigger than Z5 Compact. When i first time in shop bring C5 Ultra my first think was: "who it's very big", but now after almost year if i will change smartphone i will see only into big screem coz in 6 intch screen to watch movies, play games adn read news is very big pleasure. To write sms and facebook is really good thing. So coz X Compact is bigger i think it's another plus for this model. But another good thing IP68 certified - dust proof and water have only Z5 Compact how can i see by GSM Arena. So Z5 Compact is not bad too. About CPU you alraedy discussed, so i don't write. My opinion both smartphone enough smoothly and powerful. Different by specifications si not so much. Others things is almost the same for both smartphones. So try to see in small things like little differents of size of screen, offcours in very important things like price. I offer to buy X Compact, coz my opinion is little better neither Z5 Compact, also it's newest.. Slightly_smiling_Face

I have the z5 compact and X compact.
Several of each.
I loved the z5c when it was new but my X compact, in my own experience, blows it out of the water in every way.
Also, I use it in the rain in Japan with zero negative effect... I am guessing it's the same build as my Japanese model and just not warranty covered or rated outside Japan... just my guess though.
X compact is faster, feel far more fluid, has (to me) a better in hand feel, and the camera is much, much improved.
With the X compact sometimes selling for less than z5c in amazon if you are lucky, I'd say no brainer and don't be fooled by tech specs, which in my opinion no longer speak to user experience.

I had a Z5 Compact which recently had the main display stop working (backlight)

I got my money back and was going to get another Z5 Compact, until i decided to google Z5 Compact vs X Compact. There i saw a Youtube video of both phones side by side loading apps and the X Compact was quicker in virtually all of them, some, particularly games, by many seconds. One reason for this which hasn't been mentioned, is that the X Compact has 3GB RAM to the 2GB in the Z5 Compact.

This by and large made up my mind and so i ordered the X Compact and got it today. Initial impressions are that it's very quick indeed, with the fingerprint scanner both far quicker and accurate than the one on the Z5. I was constantly having to try to log in on the Z5, with this i haven't had to repeat once.

Hope this all helps.

I had huge problems with overheating and battery drain with the Z5 Compact, especially after the Nougat upgrade.  This is a common complaint in the forums.  I just bought the X Compact and although it's a bit laggy, it is otherwise fine.

It is surprising to hear that your XC lags, even a bit. I found it to be the most smooth experience on Android so far.
