Hi sminky01,
I've checked the manual for this VAIO and could tell that only the memory module was mentioned to be up-gradable as shown on page 94 in the user manual in this link:
However, I'd recommend checking the possibility for replacing the CPU by contacting the service centre that deals with VAIO which is called Flextronics, and their number is 01925260090.
Hope this helps,

Hi sminky01,
Welcome to the community.
I'll see if I can find this out for you. Maybe someone else in the community has an idea in the meantime.
Thanks,
Pascale
Thanks for that

Thanks for the help I will try contacting Flextronics and post their reply/solution, my understanding of the cpu that is fitted is that it is a Intel Core i3 350M /Socket 989 rPGA obtained the info by running speccy on the pc, it seems to me that the i3 350M is compatable with a range of CPU's from the 1st gen of i3 i5 and i7 processors and also the Socket 989 rPGA is compatable with Socket 988 rPGA processors, the cpu is the last upgrade I'll be able to do as I've already maxed out the ram and fitted an SSD so a better cpu would be nice will keep you all posted as and when I finally get it done.
Hi sminky01,
That would be of a great help to post the reply in case anyone else here has thought of similar upgrade.
Cheers,

Ok guys well I've gone for the cheap option bought an I5-520m processor from fleabay for £4.99 didn't want to risk £40-£60 on an I7 only to find it wouldnt work 😞 the good news is the I5 was a good buy simple enough to fit and has given a worthwile boost to the PC so the next challenge will be finding an I7 at the right price and fitting that.
Cheers folks and thanks for the help

Well it's been a year since the i5 went in and still running sweet as I could have wished scores 5.0 on the windows index (It's windows 7) but I'm torn on whether to try upgrading the motherboard or looking at a newer machine 🤔 thing is I do like the all in one design, screens a nice size I'm not into gaming so no need for mega resolution 4k screen would just like to go up to maybe a series 4/5 i5 or i7 and maybe 16 gb ram but not sure if other all in one boards would fit while retaining the touch screen so any advice would be appreciated thanks in advance 👍
i have an i7 3610QM no clue if its gonna work but ill update you on it just incase
