I bought an old Sigma zoom lens from a camera shop yesterday. It worked fine on the SLT they had for sale in the shop - but when I got home and put it on my A580 it is not recognised. The AF doesn't work, and there is no aperture reading.
Is this fixable - or will I just have to return the lens?
Bit odd if the lens works on the newer SLT but not the older A580.
Any advice appreciated.

Hi Bodian
I'm not completely up to speed on this (and it depends how old the lens is - you don't mention the model number) but I do know may older Sigmas need to be chipped to work with SLTs. It's highly likely this has been done to the lens you just bought and possible that the upgrade now prevents it working with the a580.
I guess you need to take it back and see if they have an un-modified version
Cheers
