sony a57 studio set up

I have a sony a57 and tried it in a studio environment, set the camera to manual, iso 100, white balance cloudy, apperture to 125th. looked through the view finder an saw blackness and the same through the screen. 

I had to go back to my a200, what am I doing wrong?  any ideas anyone?

Hi chatty, welcome to the Sony Forums

Try switching off Live View in the Settings.

Could be you're using a fairly dark lens and your exposure is set too dark, so 'dark' is all you'll see through the live view EVF.

thanks mick i will give it a go. my lens was a 35-80mm f4/5.6 zoom.
