Android TV apps

Does anyone know if there are any plans for new apps and games via the Google Play Store coming in the near future?

there seems to be some big names missing - no FIFA games, no facebook, twitter, Sky Sports news, Deezer, UK news apps, ebay, Amazon, Now TV, angry birds, Disney, Star Wars. To be honest it seems a little underwhelming.

thanks

You can sideload pretty much any Android app you want.

It's miles easier to navigate apps with a wireless mouse and keyboard plugged into your TV, in fact, some apps may be unusable with just the remote control.

I personally use a Logitech K400 Keyboard with built in trackpad, it works great !

You can try to download and install apps through the Opera Browser on your TV via searching the Google Play Store, but you will also need to make sure you have Installed either :

HALauncher :

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.i.akihiro.halauncher&hl=en_GB

or

Sideload Launcher :

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=eu.chainfire.tv.sideloadlauncher&hl=en_GB

to be able to see the apps you have installed yourself show up on the TV.

If you are installing your own Android apps to your TV, I also advise you to download and install :

Screen Orientation :

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.googlecode.eyesfree.setorientation&hl=en_GB

To be able to make any app run Full Screen - Landscape mode on your TV.

You could also read thorugh my last 2 posts on this thread to see how to transfer files from an Android Phone or Tablet to your TV :

Good Luck !

Let us know if you find any decent apps worth putting on the Android TV.

Why are not all Android tv streaming apps like Cmore and DPlay compatible with Sony Bravia Android TVs?

Are the 2 apps you mentioned actually available for Android TV?

I just looked at them on the play store and they both appear to be mobile apps.

App developers need to add just a few lines of code to make the majority of ALL Android compatible apps work perfectly on Android TV, send the developers an Email and ask them to add support for Leanback Launcher.

I guess they are mobile apps. Whats the difference? I surely will. Thanks .

According to Cmore in Sweden the app works with Samsung's android TV only. Sounds strange to me. Waiting for their answer regarding Sony compatibility.

Samsung does not make android TVs

Sorry, I meant Samsung smart tv.

Anyway, Cmore replied that the app won't work with Sony Android.

Samsung use Tizen instead of Android. I guess that's why the app works with Samsung TV:s.

well, they do exist in playstore so nothing stops you from sideloading the APKs. The worst thing that can happen is that they won't work or will be in the wrong orientation or navigation with remote will be awful or impossible so you'll need that cursor mode from tvsideview remote.
