I saw this posted on the Sony Support Page
This information is for the following models:
Is this the reason why those models are not able to receive the BBC iplayer UHD live World Cup football?
Sony says delayed release 21-06-2018, is this true? Or do we have a release that's not working properly?
The update bricked some TVs. So they had to pull it... again. Affected TVs have been XE85, XE90, XE93 and A1 (and probably more).
Probably helps that my tv is a XE80, think I should have bought a XE70, less issues. At least they seem able to receive UHD iplayer test broadcasts. Seems a waste of money buying some new models mid year if that happens.
Seems like they pulled it for all 2017 Android TV models by now.
They pulled this update for the XE90 at the beginning of the month. Wonder why it took them much longer to pull it for the rest?
It has been reported here that if your TV has already installed the update correctly then you won't have a problem, that it's only during the update process itself where there is a chance it will brick.
Android is looking like it was more trouble than it was worth for Sony to adopt for its premium TVs.
Hi SonyUser30Yrs,
Was this update pulled on 21-06-2018 by Sony?
Yes. For 2017 models, it got pulled. For 2018 models, it is still there.
