Hi @KEGWEG Would you please let us have the full model number of your TV (it will start with KD). Also could you explain what you mean by “item in to the TV”.

Hi @KEGWEG Are you saying that they forgot to connect another device to HDMI 1? Have you got four devices (DVD player etc.), if so simply connect it to HDMI 1. HDMI ports are only used if you have something to connect to them.

What have they filled up 2 3 and 4 with? Sky box, soundbar, etc? And please say which device in which HDMI input, as this can matter.

HMDI2 contains DVD player
HMDI3 contains recorder
HMDI4 contains freesat box
I was thinking of putting another recorder in HMDI1 but I was suspicous of the fact that installers hadn't used it, would this be a problem?

All the HDMI ports are top spec on this TV, which has not been the case with some earlier Sony Android sets, so it doesn’t matter what device you plug into which port. I expect the installers only had three devices to install, and chose to leave you the most accessible port for any fourth thing you might have.
One exception though, is that only one of these ports, probably HDMI 3, is ARC-capable; it will say this in small letters, beside this port. If you ever get a sound bar, or other home cinema sound system, which requires an HDMI connection to your TV, then it must go into this port, which is the only one that can send the TV sound back to the sound bar to play.
But unless and until you get such a thing, all the HDMI ports are completely interchangeable, and it doesn’t matter which device is plugged into which port.
