Sony ag8 HDR PROBLEM

Recently purchased my first oled tv when viewing something in hdr it’s just to dark to watch. Been viewing through PS4 and the built in apps on tv. My understanding was it’s meant to be bright and more colourful but it seems to be the complete opposite

where did you read that HDR is brighter? High Dynamic Range means that it can get from darker to brighter than an SDR movie with a range that is by definition wider. Than it is up to the movie maker how they really want you to watch the movie
